Obituary
Jasper "Jay" William Smith, age 88 of Lead Hill, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at his home.
The son of William Arthur and Frankie Mae (Ewing) Smith was born October 15, 1923 in Lowell, Arkansas.
He married Mildred Ruth Murray on December 30, 1950. He retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan in 1981 and moved to this area. He enjoyed cutting wood, gardening, bee hunting, and was a bee keeper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Edna Ruth Smith; a grandson, Todd Farver; two brothers, Troy Smith and Jim Smith; and sisters, Avo Kimmer, Edna Holland, Margaret Prince, and Virginia Kirkpatrick.
Survivors are his wife, Mildred Smith of the home; daughters, Vee Shelton and husband Larry of Franklin, TN, Frankie Rogers and husband Dave of Pea Ridge, AR, Shirley Farver and husband Dave of Franklin, TN, and Jo McEntire and husband Ben of Harrison; brothers, Allen "Tommy" Smith and Ray Smith both of Monett, AR; ten grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
There was open visitation at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
Service was Friday, December 30, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Lead Hill with Rev. Glenn Crenshaw officiating.
Burial followed in Locust Road Cemetery near Lead Hill with pallbearers being Dave Farver, Tim Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Jessica Harris, Caleb Stephens, and Jay Stephens.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Smith, Ray Smith, Larry Shelton, Dave Rogers, and Ben McEntire.
