Obituary

Jay I. Sasser, age 82 of Fayetteville, AR, formerly of Harrison, AR, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale, AR.

The son of Arthur and Geneva (Pyle) Sasser, was born March 3, 1926 at Bruno, AR.

Jay served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a retired Inspector for the Arkansas Highway Department. He was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church and a former member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church. He and his wife, Nelda had been park attendants for the Corp of Engineers.

His parents preceded him in death, along with an infant daughter, Patricia and a brother, Arlis Sasser.

Jay is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nelda (McEntire) Sasser, of the home; daughters, Carolyn Morton, of Springdale, Kaye Wright and husband, Jim, of Harrison, Debra Carter and husband, Ed, of Rogers, and Janell Selby and husband, Robert, of Fayetteville. Other survivors are his brothers, Jimmy Joe Sasser and Mac Sasser, both of Yellville; sisters, Rua Baker, of Harrison, Velva Rice, of Topeka, KS, Billie Hill, of Springdale, Layne Milligan, of Yellville, and Clarice McNair, of Bruno; ten grandchildren, Cheryl Estes and husband, Cody, Laura Morton, Scott Wright and wife, Michelle, Jamey Wright and wife, Denise, Leslie Wright, Beth Andreasen and husband, Shane, Daniel Carter, Jason Selby and wife, Erin, T.J. Pederson, and Jenna Pederson; and eleven great grandchildren, Michael Lock, Cassidy Lock, Abram Estes, Benton Estes, Jake Gray, Laney Tatro, Krystan Wright, Wade Wright, Kaylie Husser, Valerie Andreasen, and Chase Selby.

Visitation was Tuesday, April 15, 2008 with service Wednesday, April 16, 2008, both at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Rev. Greg McEntire and Rev. Tom Shaw officiated. Burial followed in Anderson Flat Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jay's nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Park Rangers of Mountain Home Project Office, VA Primary Team 7, and Dr. Karl Haws.

Jay was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather.
