Janet Merle Morgan, age 63 of Jasper, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Harrison, Arkansas.
The daughter of Marion Merle Jamison and Helen (Sarras) Jamison was born on May 15, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She moved to Newton County in 1985 from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Janet was the chef (nationally famous) and hotelier at the Arkansas House in Jasper. She was on national television three times in 2014 (The Food Network, National Geographic and P. Allen Smith on PBS). Janet resurrected the Buffalo Theater and was a board member for the last three years. The theater was Janet's love and she wanted donations in lieu of flowers to go to the theater. The theater address is Buffalo Theater, P.O. Box 617, Jasper, Arkansas 72641. Janet was also co-founder of the Buffalo River Chamber of Commerce.
Her father preceded her in death.
Survivors are her mother Helen Jamison of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;
her husband Joseph Morgan of Jasper; one sister Lynn Helen Anderson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sons Mark and Joshua Morgan; three daughters Sunshine, January and April Morgan and three grandchildren.
Cremation arrangements by Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. A musical tribute to Janet's life of service, was performed at the Buffalo Theater in Jasper on the evening of Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 7 P.M. with all proceeds going to the Buffalo Theater.
