Obituary

James Walter Mondy, age 86 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.

The son of William Thomas Monday and Rebecca Louisa (Martin) Monday, he was born July 22, 1921 at Wilcoxin, Arkansas.

Walter was a member of Union Baptist Church. He was a farmer, a precision machinist and a welder. He had been active in CCC Camp and made Nordon bomb sights for military airplanes during WWII. He was a third generation Boone Countian.

He was well known for his honesty, hard work ethics, and God fearing attitude.

His parents preceded him in death, along with a son, Dale Oliver Mondy; sisters, Myrtle Poyner, Lillie Paul, Allie Wilmoth, Lizzie Crow, Mittie Paul, and Dora Faye Brown; and a brother, Hugh Monday.

Survivors are his wife of 66 years, Louise Vida (Hatter) Mondy of the home; son, James Arlen Mondy and wife, Janet and daughter, Marilyn Jones and husband, Kenneth, all of Harrison; sister, Ella Pearl May also of Harrison; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.

Visitation was Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Services were Thursday, July 24, 2008 in the funeral home chapel with Raymond Edwards officiating. Burial followed in White Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bryan Jones, Stuart Jones, Luke Mondy, Verlin Brown, Tom Brown, and Charles Estes.
