James "Jim" W. Starkey, age 82 of Harrison, AR passed away April 4, 2006 at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
He was born September 22, 1923 at Olvey, AR a son of Charles V. and Willie Mae (Selvidge). He was a veteran of the Army during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a lifelong resident of the Olvey area and was a member of Olvey Christian Church. He was a cattleman, a farmer, and an eager friend to the community. He was a retired machinist for Duncan Industries.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Bill Starkey; wife, Marie (Scott) Starkey in 1997; and two brothers, Jack and Dempsey Starkey.
Survivors are his children, Vernie D. Starkey of Beavercreek, OH, and Debbie J. Starkey and Billy J. Starkey both of Harrison, AR; a nephew, Mitchell Starkey of Little Rock, AR; and a niece, Dana Tucker of Harrison, AR.
Funeral services for Jim Starkey were held April 10, at Olvey Christian Church with Pastor Ben E. Byrd, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jackie Davis, Kirk Gibson, Jessie Tramell, Darrell Sandy, Nat Finley, and Norman Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Ben Taylor and John Taylor. Arrangements were handled by Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
