James Hall Pierce, age 69 of Jasper, AR passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 in Harrison, AR.
He was born March 25, 1939 at Swain, AR a son of Aubrey Hall and Lillie (Patton) Pierce. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for W.L. Miller Company for 38 years and had lived in Hamilton, IL for 41 years. He moved back to Jasper in April 2007.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from April 24, 1962 until May 5, 1964. James was a member of the VFW Post #5256 in Hamilton, serving as Post Commander for seven years. He enjoyed four wheeling, fishing, hunting, gardening, camping and spending summers in Colorado. He also loved visiting with friends in Hamilton and Newton County and enjoyed spending time playing bingo and other activities at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL. James loved his children and spending time with them and boating with his friends on the Mississippi River.
James Hall Pierce left a lasting impression on the many people he met in his life.
Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Odell and Harold Pierce and the mother of his children, Carolyn Pierce.
Survivors are a son, Nathan James Pierce of Springfield, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Keith Arentz of Granite, CO; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Hazel Pierce of Springdale, AR; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Geraldine and Oscar Pruitt of Charleston, SC, Onetta Meadows of Springdale, AR and Jean and Dennis Brasel of Jasper, AR; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly, along with many close friends in the Hamilton area and Newton County.
Memorial service will be 11 A.M. Friday, May 16, 2008 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Rev. Troy Walker officiating.
