James William (J.W.) Henson Jr., 88, of Cave Creek passed away at his home, May 2, 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Wanda (Dickey) Henson, one son; Jerry Henson of Harrison, two daughters; Anita (Doug) Davis, of Mountain Home, Bettye (Tony) Wade of Russellville, seven grandchildren; Brad (Allison) Henson of Bryant, Kelli (Kyle) Lamberson of Russellville, Teri (Chad) Mitchell of Russellville, Brent Henson of Harrison, Natalie (Michael) Whitlow of Dallas, Texas, Richard (Melinda) Davis of Centerton, Arkansas, and Steven (Brittany) Wade of Parker, Colorado. Eleven great-grandchildren; Dakoda Henson, Wade Lamberson, Wesley Lamberson, Reagan Mitchell, Will Lamberson, Max Mitchell, Alexis Henson, Brady Henson, Tripp Whitlow, Emmett Whitlow and Scout Wade.
J.W. was born May 20, 1925 to Nancy (McCutcheon) and James William (Richard) Henson Sr. He was preceded in death by one sister; Vernell Sullivan, three brothers; Doyle, Robert and Junior Henson. He is survived by one brother, Albert (Ann) Henson of Dardanelle, Arkansas.
J. W. was a baptized believer in the Church of Christ. He served his country during World War II and he was Corporal of Company L 357th Infantry 90th Division. He was a POW in Germany for 10 months. The war changed his life forever but he along with Wanda raised a family and lived a long life in the peace and tranquility of God's beautiful mountains of Newton County.
Service was Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Church of Christ at Ben's Branch, with burial in McCutcheon Cemetery. Loyd Dodson Jr.l officiated.
Visitation was Monday, May 5, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.
Pallbearers were the grandsons
Honorary Pallbearers were the granddaughters.
He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
