Obituary

James Eugene Bennett, 88, of Harrison, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 18, 2018.

Jim was born in Springfield, Missouri to James Burley and Venetta VanSandt Bennett on May 12, 1930.  As a young child, his mother took him to church where he learned about a better life.   Jim was saved and baptized as a young man and grew up in the Church of God.

Jim met Barbara Tettleton as a teenager.  They knew each other three months before they married on October 9, 1948, what were the chances this would last 69 years.

Jim loved having his family and friends at the lake where he would teach us how to fish or ski or just enjoy time together.

Jim and Barbara owned Bennett Small Engine Shop.  Every spring, they had hundreds of mowers parked everywhere to be worked on.

Survivors include, his wife, Barbara Bennett of the home; his daughters, Lana Trublood and Kay Sanders; his sons, James (Susie) Bennett, Willie (Paulette) Bennett and Chuck (Debbie) Bennett; his grandchildren, Stephanie Miles, Chris Sanders, Missy Criner, Brad Trublood, Blake Bennett, Madelyn Bennett and Amy Dorl; seven great grandchildren; his brother, John (Angie) Bennett; sisters-in-law, Betty Jarrett, Sharon (Jack) Sartin; brothers-in-law, John (Pat) Tettleton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Alpena First Baptist Church with Wes Cantwell officiating.  A private burial at Hilltop Cemetery will be held at a later date.
