IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James David
Coleman
May 2, 1936 – May 17, 2025
James David Coleman, age 89, of Bergman, Arkansas, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2025 surrounded by his family.
He was born May 2, 1936 in Parkin, Arkansas to parents, Posey Ivy Coleman and Sylvia Mae (Belcher) Coleman. He moved to the Ozarks 61 years ago from Wynne, Arkansas.
David loved to play with his children, in later years with his grandchildren, and laughing and picking at his brothers, sisters, and everyone. He liked to fish, watch old time TV shows, work jigsaw puzzles, and listen to bluegrass gospel music. He followed the Pentecostal faith and loved the Lord with all his heart. David and Ruth had a very loving marriage of more than 63 years. He was a devoted and loving family man. David's life was a living testimony of faith, sacrifice, and unwavering love. He quit school as a young boy to help provide for his mother and siblings, shouldering burdens far beyond his years with quiet strength and humility. Later, David was diligent in working hard to provide for his wife and 8 children.
David was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Kathleen Coleman and daughter Kay Coleman Smith, his brothers; Lasley Coleman, Lee Coleman, and Richard Coleman; and brothers-in-law, Charles Brown and Kenneth "Bib" Royce.
David is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth (Stone) Coleman; sons, Ronald (Cheryl) Coleman, Joseph (Debbie) Coleman, and Leonard Coleman, all of Bergman AR; daughters, Carolyn Coleman of Bellefonte, AR, Melinda (Anthony) Sanderson of Springdale, AR, Pamela (Jerry) Kilburn of Fayetteville, AR, and Alice (Jesse) Switzer of Marshall, AR; brother, Roy (Vonalou) Coleman of Atkins AR; sisters, Rosetta Brown of Mountain Home, AR, and Carol Royce of Piercetown, AR; sister-in-law, Helga Coleman of Junction City, KS; and 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
