James C. Cantrell, age 93 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Apple Ridge Health & Rehabilitation in Harrison.
The son of T. H. "Tollie" and Mary (Young) Cantrell was born April 18, 1917 in Everton, Arkansas.
He was the caretaker of Crawford Cemetery for many years; was instrumental in building the Robinson Museum at Rally Hill; he ran a Carnation milk route; was Postmaster of Everton Post Office; a Deacon of Everton Baptist Church; and a Sunday School Superintendent of Everton Baptist Church.
He was also a member of Faith Assembly of God Church.
His parents preceded him in death, along with his first wife, Helen Cantrell; three brothers; one sister; and a grandson, Jason Cantrell.
Survivors are his wife, Patsy (Hulsey) Cantrell of the home; sons, Lewis Cantrell and wife, Alma and Larry Cantrell and wife, Shirley all of Harrison; a sister-in-law, Naomi Cantrell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Debra Cason and husband, Bob, Kelli Magness and husband, Todd, and Larry Ross Cantrell and wife, Nerissa; seven great-grandchildren, Andy Cason and wife, Erica, Matthew Cason, Haley, Kade & Millie Magness, and Jasen and Noah Cantrell. He is also survived by step-daughters, Angela Brannon, Cynthia Welch, Patricia Jones, and Deborah Hooker; step-son Chester Gilbert; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday, February 8, 2011 with the service Wednesday, February 9, 2011 both at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Rev. Arlis Thrasher will officiated.
Burial will be at a later date in Crawford Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Jones, Marvin Holt, Randy Williams, Donnie Jones, Austin Mobley, and Wayne Crunkleton. Honorary pallbearers were the Saturday morning McDonald's Coffee Club, the staff of Apple Ridge Health & Rehab, members of Everton Baptist Church, and Dr. Kenneth Collins.
