IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James
Broscovak
April 14, 1937 – March 10, 2018
James E. Broscovak, age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, in the comfort of his
home with family by his side. Jim grew up the youngest of 5 boys, in Des Plaines, IL.
His family could laugh for hours as he would retell stories of his childhood full of adventure and everything
a house of 5 energetic boys would entail. Mostly all depicted him as the victim of the older
brothers shenanigans. He started his career as a meat cutter in Chicago, IL and moved to
Harrison, AR to buy land and build a house so he could enjoy an easier pace of life with his wife,
Sharilyn Broscovak. He loved his family fiercely and glowed with pride when he would talk about
his wife, children, and grand children. He was a "do it yourself-er" and built the house he lived
in with his own hands. It was one of his greatest accomplishments and one he vowed he would
never do again. He loved McDonalds coffee almost as much as his family and the staff knew by
heart that he took 2 creams and 5 sugars to make the perfect cup. Jim was always full of jokes
and loved making people laugh. He always made time for meaningful conversation and always
made sure everyone around him felt loved. In addition to his family and McDonalds coffee, his
other passion in life was great food. He was a foodie before foodie's were cool. He was an
amazing cook and took pride in serving a delicious meal with a beautiful presentation. Jim
passed down to his daughters, not only his amazing good looks, but also his love for cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and William Broscovak, and 3 of his brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shari Broscovak; his daughters, Darlene Grandstaff, Tara
(Stephen) Coker, and Jami Broscovak; his grandchildren, Andrew Curley, Tommy Clark, Gavin
Coker, and Anna Claire Coker.
Although Jim was quite the comedian, he tended not to seek being center stage, even in death.
So his request for cremation and no funeral will be honored.
He'd probably want to make some one liner about how cremation was his last hope for a
smoking body…or it would be a grave mistake to bury him…or that he "Urned" this hot body.
He was loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, Jim would have loved for you to
make a donation in honor of him to a local food pantry.
