James "Jimmie" Blackwell, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away on March 14, 2021 at the age of 90.
The son of Noel "Blackie" and Christene "Granny" (Daniels) Blackwell was born in Bergman, Arkansas on May 18, 1930. He was a resident of Boone County most of his life and attended Olvey Bible Church.
Jim was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a hard worker, starting his own business in Harrison in 1973, Blackwell Auto Repair, and he continued to be active in the business until his passing.
He loved going to the lake, boating and waterskiing. He enjoyed raising horses and loved spending time on his farm. In his younger years, he enjoyed working on Formula-One Racing Cars. Jim was very proud of his family and they meant everything to him. He was meek and mild and was loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Pat Dixon and husband Troy; a grandson, Michael Faulkenberry; and his wife, Helen Blackwell.
Jim is survived by his five children and their spouses, Debra and Patrick Braunagel, Jim and Donna Blackwell, Terri and Lowery Caudle, Rebecca and Terry Faulkenberry, Pamela and Conrad Cooper; a sister, Betty Erwin and husband Brian; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Celebration of life visitation will be held from 10 AM – Noon on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers are David "Booger Red" Carter, John Ronald Williams, Foy Horn, Linda McCormick and Sharon Emerson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to Ozark Humane Society, PO Box 542, Harrison, AR, 72601.
Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Maplewood Cemetery.
