IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jairl
Cross
November 22, 1947 – October 28, 2024
Jairl "Pork Chop" Cross, age 76, of Everton, Arkansas, passed away at home on Monday, October 28, 2024.
The son of Verlin Scott Cross and Edna Mae (Treat) Cross was born in Mount Judea, Arkansas on November 22, 1947. He lived most of his life in Newton and Boone Counties.
Jairl worked in construction for over 45 years and has spent many years farming. He lived and breathed chasing cattle.
He was affectionately known as "Pork Chop", or variations of that, to some he was Pork, and others, he was just Chop. No matter what you called him, he was one of a kind. He loved scratch-off tickets, telling dirty jokes, running the roads, and burning gas. He looked forward to his daily coffee shop visits to exchange stories with his friends in the Liars Club. He also enjoyed hunting, sweet tea and a good coconut pie.
Jairl loved his family fiercely, and he especially loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Everyone who knew him loved him deeply, and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Doris Cross, Shirley Ewing, and Charlene Reddell; and a brother, Dallas Cross.
Jairl is survived by his son, Brad Cross and wife, Jeannette; his three granddaughters, Taylor Cross, Morgan Tepper and husband Cody, and Lindsay Jones and husband Andrew; three great grandchildren, Hayes, Halle, and Sawyer; two step grandchildren, Lindsey Peltzer and Ty Marshall; a step great grandson, Brodee Hale; his brother, Joe Cross and wife Rona; three sisters, Joyce Eddings and husband Ivan, Linda Reddell, and Ava "Skeeter" Cross; his former wife, Connie Cross; two brothers-in-law, Mac Ewing and Junior Reddell; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many dear friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 2 (2024) from 10 AM to Noon at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison, with the service immediately following at Noon on Saturday. Gabe Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Judea Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Cody Tepper, Andrew Jones, Clint Blankenship, Brad Potter, Sam Trammell, Rick Eddings, Ryan Summitt, Kenny Halsted, Daniel Bolin, and Ty Marshall.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Liars Club.
