Obituary

Oliver Eugene "Jack" Cox, age 74 of Everton, Arkansas died at his home on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.

He was born September 16, 1939 at Atkins, Arkansas the son of Marion Eugene and Ida (Marple) Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alfred Marion Cox.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Adams) Cox of the home; sons, Samuel Eugene Cox and his wife Kelly, of Belgrade, Montana and Richard Dale Cox and his wife Kathy, of Batavia, Illinois; his sister, Oma Lee "Lyn" Berry, of Reedley, California; one grandson, Michael Eugene Cox and his wife Kate, of Seattle, Washington; granddaughters, Rebecca and Raquel Cox; a great-grandson, Brody Eugene Cox; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was a Boy Scout leader for many years while living in Reedley, California, achieving many awards, including the Silver Beaver - the highest award in Scouting leadership. He was a volunteer ambulance driver in Reedley and a long time volunteer with the Harmon Volunteer Fire Department.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992 and continued working as an independent trucker until September of 2013. He loved his little farm and was planning on planting a large garden this year. In the past, he was a bee keeper, also building and marketing bee hives and supplies.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held on March 30, 2014, in the afternoon, at the family home.

Memorials may be made to the Harmon Volunteer Fire Department at Arvest Bank or to the charity of your choice.

Cremation and arrangements are being handled by Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison, Arkansas.
