Ivery Lawrence Taylor, age 95 of Wayton, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Veteran's Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
He was born July 26, 1914 in Wayton Arkansas, the fourth son of Sherman and Martha (Snow) Taylor. Ivery was a life long resident of Wayton, Arkansas except for the four plus years he spent serving his country in the United States Army, in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He also spent a short time working in the Kansas City, Kansas area in the late fifties.
Ivery was a carpenter by trade and a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Wayton Freewill Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Superintendent for over forty years. He was a perpetual member of the Buffalo Masonic Lodge #366 and later Jasper Lodge #21 for more than fifty five years. He was a charter member of the Newton County Cattlemen's Association until health problems forced him to quit his favorite past time of baling hay and tending his cattle. His most passionate time was spent talking about his love of Christ and God's Holy Word. He proved his love for his family by his devotion to helping each one in his own special way. The last five years of his life, he lived with his niece, Pauline Taylor Hendrix, who took care of him, also, a special care giver, Wilma Waters, whom he was fond of. Ivery always looked forward to a homemade lemon pie or lemon cake, baked by Mildred Patrick, who is Zach Taylor's grandmother. He always looked forward to Zach coming to see him, as he loved all of his family, especially the kids.
Ivery was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ray, Vester, Reed, and Loyd; and one sister, Stella Noe.
Survivors are one brother, Remmell Taylor of Lowell, Arkansas;
one sister, Gracie Daniels of Bonner Springs, Kansas; his niece, Pauline Hendrix of the home and many other nieces, nephews, and friends who will mourn his passing.
Pallbearers were Tony Taylor, Clint Taylor, Eddie Kilgore, Erby Daniels, David Casey, and Jeremy Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers were the staff of Fayetteville and Little Rock VA Hospitals.
Funeral service was Saturday, September 12, 2009 at New Wayton Freewill Baptist Church with Geno Johnston officiating. Burial followed in Wayton Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, September 11, 2009 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper, Arkansas.
