Daniel Hugh Wells, age 93 of Valley Springs, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 in Jasper, Arkansas.
The son of Charlie and Laura Esther (Barger) Wells was born on May 19, 1924 in Valley Springs.
Hugh was a graduate of Valley Springs High School and was a former mayor of Valley Springs. He enjoyed 4-wheeling, camping and going to deer camp. He also loved working in his garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sybil Wells; a sister, Edith Pate; a brother, Hickory Wells and a nephew, John Edd Pate.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Heather Simmons and husband Clint of Harrison, Arkansas; a step-son, Johnny Murray of Gilbert, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Stella Wells of Valley Springs; nieces and nephews, Laura Jo Grimes of Clinton, Arkansas, Cay Fields, Gigi Enix and Todd Wells, all of Harrison; great-grandchildren, Alex and Mackenzie Simmons; great nephews and nieces, Jordan Wells, Brayden Wells, Mack Enix, Ashley Tilley, Shawn Pate and Misty Bailey along with many other family and friends who will mourn his passing.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Western Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Valley Springs Foundation, PO Box 640, Valley Springs, AR 72682.
