Hugh Alexander Simer passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at his home in Conway, Arkansas at the age of 80.  He was born January 27, 1942 to Robert and Hattie Marie Simer in Bolivar, Tennessee.  He was the oldest son of their 5 children, Shirley, Hugh, Marvin, Rudy, and Rhonda.  He graduated high school in Pekin, Illinois.

Hugh joined the Marines, and he served in Vietnam.  He returned to 29 Palms, California where he met the love of his life, Jean Laverne Jenkins. They married October 5, 1963.

Hugh and Jean went on to raise three boys; Curtis, Tim, and Marvin. Life was always an adventure with Hugh, living in many places including Arizona, Tennessee, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, New Mexico, and Arkansas.

Hugh loved his family and enjoyed painting, at one time teaching and giving private lessons, gardening both vegetables and flowers, and watching old westerns.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Curtis (Amy), Tim (Cindy), and Marvin; his sisters, Shirley and Rhonda, both of Illinois and his brother, Marvin of Florida; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many cousins and friends.

Funeral with USMC Military Honors will be at 2 PM, Friday, May 6, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison, Arkansas.  In keeping with Hugh's wishes, cremation will follow the service.
