Howard Young, age 91, of Valley Springs, Arkansas, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 at Hospice House in Harrison.

The son of Redge and Hester (Potts) Young was born August 10, 1933 in Harrison. He was a lifelong resident of Boone County and a member of the Bellefonte Church of Christ.

Howard enjoyed fishing, farming, and being with his family. He was a dedicated farmer his entire life, earning Farm Family of the Year and the Boone County Senior Farmer Award. He also served on the Boone County Conservation District Board, Boone County Farm Bureau Board, North Arkansas Regional Medical Center Board and Valley Springs School Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sherry Jo Young; sister, Bonnie Faye Young, sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo and Ed Harris, and Jane and Quintin Phillips; father and mother-in-law, John L. and Liz Sullivan; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Juanita Sullivan; brother-in-law, Denard Horn; and daughter-in-law, Sue Young.

Howard is survived by his wife of 73 years, Betty (Sullivan) Young; son, Jim Young of Valley Springs; daughter, Jannie (Mike) Crow of Leslie; three grandchildren, Bruce (Nicki) Salmon, Laura Jo (Robert) Wilburn, and Jeff (Paige) Carter; seven great grandchildren, Cody (Ashton) Salmon, Tate (Gracie) Salmon, Katie Ann Wilburn, Hunter Wilburn, Keeton Carter, Lyla Carter, and Bodee Carter; three great-great grandchildren, Ada Salmon, Charlie Newberry, and Tucker Salmon (on the way); a sister-in-law, Bonnie Horn; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and dear friends.

Visitation will be Monday, March 24 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.

Graveside services will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, March 25 (2025) at Western Grove Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home.

Services will be officiated by Ray Crawford.

Pallbearers are Jeff Carter, Robert Wilburn, Bruce Salmon, Cody Salmon, Tate Salmon, Keeton Carter, Hunter Wilburn, and Bodee Carter.

Honorary pallbearers are Roger Morris, Wayne Crunkleton, and Dale Crunkleton.
