Howard Henson Cone, Jr., 61 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.
The son of Howard Cone, Sr. and Sarah Caroline (Fowler) Cone was born September 7, 1956 at Everton, Arkansas.
Howard was a lifetime resident of Boone County and a graduate of Valley Springs High School. He was a member of the Army National Guard for over 20 years, serving during Desert Storm, receiving a Heroic or Meritorious Achievement Medal, Liberation of Kuwait Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Distinguished Service Medal, and a Meritorious Service Medal.
He enjoyed working on old vehicles and he loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Howard was his family's hero, he was always there for them and loved them very much. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and friend to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Angelene Cone, seven brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Floyd, Ralph, Boyd, Bill and James Allen, a sister, Joyce Renee and his father-in-law, Harold M. Jones.
Howard is survived by his children, Ron Cone and wife Juanita and Rhonda Reeves and husband Frank; four brothers, Ishmal Cone and wife Diane, J.C. Cone, Wayne Cone and wife Yvonne and Donnie Cone and wife Candy; four sisters, Evelyn Mysinger and husband Jim, Carolyn Edwards and husband Carl, Brenda Wahl and husband Eddie and Ethel Mae Sanders; his mother-in-law, Jo Ann Jones; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Cone-Goff and Maggie Criner; three brothers-in-law, Virl Bruce and wife Mary, Earl (Bodie) Bruce and wife Tammy and Billy Bruce and wife Mendy; four uncles, Clinton Fowler and wife Kendra, Frankie Fowler and wife LaVonne, Jesse Fowler and wife Jan and Elmer Fowler and wife Carolyn; eight grandchildren, John, Annette, MaKayla, Brittany, Krissi, Katarina, Austin and Cody; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Pastor Kenneth Crow officiating with burial to follow at White Church Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Cone, Mike Cone, Tim Cone, Kevin Cone, Gary Cone, Ethan Wahl, James Maybee and Rob Criner.
Honorary Pallbearers are Leslie Shatwell, Curtis Nichols, Austin Cowan, Cody Cowan and the Members of the 142 nd Field Artillery Garrison/HQ.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
