Hazel Jeanne Bryan Rush, age 92 of Jasper, Arkansas was born February 25, 1918 in McAlester, Oklahoma a daughter of Sidney Gould and Hazel Kirk (Graves) Bryan. She went into God's loving embrace on June 17, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Jeanne was the first woman on the Harrison School Board, serving 5 years. She taught school at Joe T. Robinson High School and also taught home-bound ill students. She was sponsor of Student Council, Teens for Christ, Honor Society and AFS Foreign exchange student program.
She has been a member of Order of the Eastern Star since 1936 and was still active as secretary of the Harrison #25 chapter. She traveled the country for almost 10 years with friends, from Alaska to Florida. They led many tours, occasionally returning home to Newton County.
Her spirit of faithfulness to God, love of family and friends, courage and integrity will live in our hearts forever. Throughout her life, she touched the lives of many and was a kind hearted, gracious lady.
Survivors are her two daughters, Margaret Rush Keeter and husband, Jerry and Patricia Rush Horsey and husband, Darrell; son, Donald Eugene Rush, Jr.; 7 grandchildren; Janet Keeter Bidgood, Jeff Keeter, Debbie Keeter Zinser, Jeannie Keeter Hames, David Horsey, Keith Horsey and Stephen Horsey; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
There was a Memorial service Monday, June 21, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Jasper with Eldon King and James Compton officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Rush.
