Harvey Franklin Rose, formerly of Green Forest, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, Arkansas. He was 81 years old.

The son of Roy and Olin (Alexander) Rose was born on June 25, 1940 in Marshall, Arkansas.

Harvey began his career in education at College of the Ozarks, where he played basketball for two years, before transferring to Arkansas State Teacher's College where he earned his bachelor's degree of science in education. He later earned his master's degree in education from the University of Arkansas. Harvey began teaching in 1961 in Marshall before moving on to teach at Alpena and Cotter before settling at Green Forest where he taught from 1969 to 2001. He was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1999.

He married Joyce Brisco on January 18, 1974. Harvey enjoyed camping, attending bluegrass festivals, whittling, mowing his yard, and best of all playing his guitar. In fact, Harvey used to play his guitar on the radio on Sunday mornings with a few of his friends from church. He also enjoyed being with his constant companion, his dog, Missy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Rose; one son, Guy Rose; his parents; and one brother, Bill Rose.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Roy and Candy Rose; two granddaughters, Ashley King and Ashley Pace; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM both on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison. Danial Wyatt will officiate. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include his past students and his bluegrass friends.
