Harry Moore, age 84 of Jasper, Arkansas passed away on Wed. August 30, 2006 at his home. He was born February 26, 1922 in Seymour, Texas, the son of Grover and Carrie (Beck) Moore. He was a WWII and Korean veteran, serving in the U. S. Navy; a retired letter carrier for the U.S. postal service; a member and deacon of the Jasper First Baptist Church; an advisory board member of Newton County Senior Center and a volunteer at the Newton County Nursing Home. He moved to Newton County in the early 80's with his first wife, Hazel Moore, who preceded him in death in 1986. Also preceding him were his parents; two brothers, Bill and Richard Moore and two sisters, Margie Moore and Pauline Russell.
On May 2, 1987, he married Iva Jean (Laughter) Gilbert, at an outdoor ceremony at the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper.
Survivors are his wife, Jean Moore of the home; five children, Harry Moore, Jr. of Wichita Falls, Texas; Lela Bush and husband, Jim and Gail Moore all of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Clifford Moore and wife, Kathy of Western Grove and Jamie Stephens and husband, Mark of Bay, Arkansas; one sister, Nellie Epps of Chico, Texas; five brothers, John Moore of Hennessey, Oklahoma, Harvey Moore of Gainesville, Texas, Dean Moore of Sunset, Texas, Allan Moore of Texas and Marshall Moore of Bowie, Texas; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one great grandchild due in September 2006.
Visitation was Friday, Sept. 1st at Coffman Funeral Home, Jasper. Funeral service were Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006 at 10:00 AM, First Baptist Church, Jasper with burial in the Snow Cemetery at Wayton under direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper; Manuel Macks and Blake Matthews will be officiating.
Pallbearers are Ron Wrisinger, Roger Faught, Ben Szabrowicz, Vern Terpening, Bill Willard, David Stratton, Sr, Tommy Davis and Richard Waters. Honorary pallbearers are Deacons and Men's Sunday School class of Jasper First Baptist Church and Senator Randy Laverty.
