IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harroll A.
Hoppis
November 15, 1936 – December 27, 2023
Harroll A. Hoppis, 87, of Harrison, Arkansas died peacefully in his son's home in Locust Grove, Oklahoma on December 27, 2023.
He was born on November 15, 1936 in Hasty, Arkansas, the youngest of seven kids to Arthur and Alcie Hoppis.
Harroll graduated from Western Grove High School and moved to Kansas City, where he worked at Milbank Manufacturing.
He married and had four children: Debbie Coleman (Joe), of Bergman, Mike Hoppis (Dottie), of Harrison, Kendra Burris, of Harrison, and Konnie Miller (Richard), of Lebanon, TN.
Life threw Harroll some curveballs, but he was forever changed when he met Linda Toevs one Saturday night in February 1968. Though Linda was on a date with Harroll's twin brother, Darrell, he set his sights on her and they became "official" on March 30, 1968. They were married on May 2, 1970 and celebrated 52 years together. Inscribed in their wedding book, Linda wrote, "And we will remain together for the rest of our lives."
The couple and the three eldest children moved to Harrison in 1979 where they became part of a large community of friends and family.
Harroll was a founding member of Ozark Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and led the music with Linda at the piano. He coached intramural basketball for many years for Bergman Schools and had a reputation for winning.
Though he loved sports and fishing, Harroll's favorite role was that of father and papa. Three more children were added to the crew: Karla Sprague (Steve Jackson), of Springdale, Justin Hoppis (Nita) of Locust Grove, OK and Mathew Hoppis (Jessica), of Conway, AR.
His grandchildren: Chris and Jeremy, Michael and Josh, Nathan, Brandon, and Brittany, BJ and Cody, Braden, Courtney, and RJ, Haven, Reese, and Sadie and his great grandchildren knew that Grandpa Hoppis loved them beyond measure.
Harroll retired from Duncan Industries in 1998 after 18 years of service. He and Linda loved to be surrounded by friends and family and spent time fishing and camping in retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; his son, Mike; and his wife, Linda. Survivors include his six children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of friends and family who will miss him dearly.
A few days prior to his passing, Harroll asked one of his sons, "Are the shad running tonight?" To him we reply, "The fish are always biting in heaven."
Visitation is at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM both on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison. Mike Felder will officiate.
