IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Guy
Woodruff
July 3, 1934 – November 14, 2018
Guy Woodruff age 84 of Bergman, Arkansas died at Hospice of the Hills on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in Harrison, Arkansas. Guy was born in the home at the top of beautiful Mt. Sherman, Arkansas on July 3, 1934. He was the last child to Roy and Ada (Gaylor) Woodruff.
Guy was a farmer at heart, but to support his farming lifestyle he worked as a mechanic for Cecil Motor Company for many years then later worked and retired as a maintenance man from Emerson Electric. He farmed hogs in the 60's & 70's, cattle in the 80's & 90's, and meat goats in the 2000's. Guy always planted a huge garden, which he generously shared with his family, friends, neighbors, and church. Guy was an active member of White Oak Church.
Guy married his wife of 61 years, Sylbia Jean Reynolds, on Valentine's Day in 1955. She liked to refer to him as a "Renaissance Man" because of his many talents and his ability to be a self-starter when it came to learning anything. Guy Woodruff was skilled at fixing things and problem solving by thinking outside the box. His family frequently refers to good work ethic as the "Guy Woodruff" way of getting something done right.
Hunting was his most beloved pastime. He loved hunting his whole life. It was his singular, fervent hobby. He loved telling stories about deer camp. As he got a little older, he built a deer stand that was a platform big enough for his recliner, which he hauled up into the tree with a pulley. Not sure if any deer were killed from his recliner deer perch, but there were many good naps massacred.
Guy had a great sense of humor, loved to joke, loved the Lord, loved his family, and loved the Ozarks. A few days before his death, when asked what he was going to do when he met up with Jean on the other side. He said, "We'll probably hug awhile then go pick strawberries." Right now, let's imagine they're catching up over strawberry shortcake. Neither of them is in pain but together in glory.
Guy is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, many friends, and his wife. He will be mourned by his blessed son, Mike Woodruff, his resilient daughter, Karen Foresee, and his wonderful grandchildren: Lindsay and Robert Hayes, and Greyson and Chelsea Foresee.
On Wednesday, November 21, 2018, visitation will begin at 1:00 pm in Coffman Funeral Home at Harrison followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm with Leo Dye officiating. There will not be a processional to Jasper Cemetery where he will be interred.Visits: 0
