Obituary

William Guy Keeter, age 89 of Harrison, AR passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Monday, July 31, 2006 at St. John's Mercy Health Center in Springfield, MO.

He was born January 22, 1917 in Bellefonte, AR the son of Milton Dock and Ruby (Stevens) Keeter.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Dock "Poon" Keeter, Jr.

Survivors are his wife of 68 years, Alpha (Dees) Keeter of the home; three daughters, Guyla Elton and husband, James of Springfield, MO, Patsy Scogins and husband, Danny of Harrison, and Debbie Witty and husband, Bill of Harrison; grandchildren, Jade Witty and Jill Witty both of Harrison, and Jeffery Elton and Kendra Szpak both of Springfield, MO; great grandchildren, Zachary Szpak and Jewel Rae of Springfield, MO and Mariah Elton of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Cleta Pinson and husband, Robert of Harrison; and a host of nieces and nephews, and his many friends and co-workers.

Guy was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Harrison, where he served as a Deacon and attended the Lewis Watkins/Search Sunday School Class. He was employed for 42 years at the Harrison Grocer Company.

An avid baseball fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, he and his longtime friend, Dick McGaughey attended many games. He also enjoyed playing the game of baseball, playing the position of "Catcher" on the Harrison Minor Club Team. His team once played a New York Yankee Farm team in Branson, MO, which they won! He played on this team from the late 1930's through the 1940's. Also an avid Quail, Deer, and Elk hunter, he would frequently travel to Colorado hunting Deer and Elk. He once brought back an Elk skin hide made into a rug, which he and his wife enjoyed in their home for many years. His bird dog "Adam" was his best friend for many years, helping him bring in many birds for the family meals.

Guy loved his family, always enjoying all of the get togethers, celebrating Birthdays and Holidays where he could just visit. He also enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sports activities.
He was also a 50 plus year, Mason of the Bellefonte Masonic Lodge.

Service was Thursday, August 3, at the First Presbyterian Church in Harrison with Rev. Robert Shaddox officiating. Burial was in Bellefonte Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeffery Elton, James D. Elton, Danny Scogins, Bill Witty, Bob Pinson, and Jerry Pinson. Honorary pallbearers included the Lewie Watkins/ Search Sunday School Class, Pippin Wholesale Company, nephews, great nephews, and all friends and loved ones. Visitation was held at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 111 N. Spring Street, Harrison, AR 72601.
