Greta Ann Dean was born on November 9, 1943, in Clarksville, AR, to Harley Stone and Audrey Carlton Stone. She grew up in Newton County on Piney Creek between Limestone and Fort Douglas, Arkansas. Greta graduated from Deer School and married the love of her life, Ray Dean, on May 10, 1962. Upon their marriage, she gained several sisters and brothers, Bonnie Peoples, John Albert Dean, Vernie Sams, Velma Mifflin, Kenneth Von Dean, Flora Ann Rush, and Wilma Jean Middleton Horsey. After their marriage, they lived in Springdale, AR, for several years and moved back to Deer about 18 years ago.
Greta is preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Audrey Stone, in-laws, Town and Zella Dean, and her husband, who died in 2013. Several friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Greta is survived by her two children and their spouses, Becky and Loy Counts of Deer, AR, and Mike and Marjie Dean of Springdale, AR; two grandchildren, Courtnie Dean of San Antonio, Texas, and Tanner Counts of Vendor, AR; seven great-grandchildren, Rylee, Ethan, Ellie, Sofia, Makinlee, Kaleb, and Cooper.
She loved her God, her family, friends, and her church. She had several special friends, Daisy Clayborn, Marilyn Edgmon, Pauline Clayborn, Joan Brown, and Louise Melton.
Pallbearers will be Tanner Counts, Brandt Young, Johnny Dean, Kenny Dean, Danny Clayborn, and Zach Clayborn.
Honorary Pallbearers are Von Dean, Roy Clayborn, Dorlan Brown, Leonard Williams, and Johnny Proud. A special thank you to Legacy Hospice, Tessa Sparks, and Highland Oncology.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Wednesday before the service, and an open visitation will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper, AR.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Deer Baptist Church in Deer, AR, officiated by David Faught.
Greta will be interred at Fort Douglas Cemetery in Johnson County, Arkansas on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
