Golden Mae (Smith) Bower, age 96 of Jasper, Arkansas passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at Harrison, Arkansas.
The daughter of Henry Columbus and Nellie Elizabeth (Reddell) Smith was born December 24, 1916 at Vendor, Arkansas.
She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She had lived most of her life in Newton County and was a member of the Piercetown Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard "Shorty" Bower; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Charley, Junior, Kennith, Russell and Luell Smith and one sister, Bertha Mae Smith.
Survivors are four sons, J.C. Bower of Vendor, Arkansas, Luell Bower of Atkins, Arkansas, Euill Bower of Jasper, Arkansas and Billy Bower of Western Grove, Arkansas; three daughters, Nellie Francis Dotson of Cowell, Arkansas, Shirley Smith of Alpena, Arkansas and Luevella Bowling of Hasty, Arkansas; one brother, Joe Henry Smith of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; one sister, Pat Shatwell of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Hazel Smith of Kansas City, Missouri; one step-brother, Remmell Smith of Jasper, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Piercetown Holiness Church with Bro. Bob Harmon officiating. Burial followed in Smith Cemetery at Vendor, Arkansas.
Visitation was Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Billy Dail Bower, Richard Bower, Dewight Bower, Theron Bowling, Randolph Bowling, Anthony Bower and Adam Bower. Honorary pallbearers were Sanford Smith, Rick Napier, Braden James, Charles Smith, Darrell Bowling and the members of Piercetown Holiness Church.
