Glen "Shotgun" Nelson Smith, age 69 of Vendor, Arkansas passed away, Sunday, October 13, 2013 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas.
He was born on June 20, 1944 at Vendor, Arkansas the son of Columbus and Lucille (Norton) Smith.
Glen was a carpenter, having built many homes in the area, a farmer and a lifetime resident of Newton County.
He served as a Newton County Justice of the Peace for 8 years and a Mt. Judea School Board member for 5 years. He loved to hunt and loved his dog, Sage.
Glen had many, many friends because he never met a stranger. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
His parents, Columbus and Lucille Smith and a nephew, Randall Campbell preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife, Vivian (Collins) Smith of Vendor; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Shelly Smith of Vendor; a daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Ricky Davis of Vendor; a sister and brother-in-law, Verdell and Alton Campbell of Jasper; four grandchildren, Laken Smith Clark and husband, Curtis Clark, Derek Davis, Kalee Smith and Devin Davis.
Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other family and friends.
Funeral services were Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Jasper Assembly of God Church with Bro. Steven Holt and Bro. Rex Middleton officiating. Burial in the Smith Cemetery at Vendor.
Visitation was Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
Pallbearers were Harold Collins, Rex Robinson, Dennis Collins, James L. Carter, Carl Smith, Edward Smith, Joe Jr. Holt, Ellis Campbell and R.L. Burdine.
Honorary pallbearers were nephews, nieces, cousins, Dr. Jimmy Justice, the ICU doctors and nurses and all of his many, many friends.
