Gladys LaPoint age 92 of Harrison, passed away, Monday, February 17, 2014 at Hillcrest Home in Harrison.
The daughter of Billy and Mary(Roberts) Abel was born, June 15, 1921 in Olvey, Arkansas.
Gladys worked for Montgomery Wards in the credit department as the bookkeeper until her retirement. She was a member of Northvale Baptist Church. Gladys enjoyed gardening and baking in her free time.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merritt (Bud) LaPoint: two brothers, Conrad and Chris Abel; four sisters, Lexie Blevins, Bessie Blevins, Etta Abel, and Era Turney: one step-son, Jim LaPoint; and three nephews.
She is survived by one step-daughter, Connie Cunningham and her children, Lisa and Jim of Lenexa, Kansas; eleven nieces and nephews; Raymond Blevins, Marvin Blevins, Mary Tarvin, Zenas Blevins, Velma Sue Lawrence, Sherman Blevins, Mary Lou Raley, Billy Joe Blevins, Wilma Williams, Loydean Turney, and Marilyn Mathis.
Service was Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with Rev. Robert Shaddox officiating.
Visitation was open Wednesday, February 19, 2014.
Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were be Zenas Blevins, Jim Cunningham, James Roy Jackson, Gary Jackson, Lonnie Mathis, and Kris Edwards.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Hillcrest Home, Dr. Mahlon Maris and Lynn Mayo.
