Obituary

Gertrude "Gertie" Castetter, age 95, of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Springs of Harrison.

The daughter of John and Alma (Krafft) Wild was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 27, 1930. She moved to the Ozarks 50 years ago from Roselle, Illinois.

She was a member of CrossRoads Community Church and had previously attended Open Door Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her CrossRoads family and she enjoyed being part of the J.O.Y. Club.

Gertie was a hard worker and loved raising children. She cherished her time as a daycare instructor. She loved to dance, read, sew, scrapbook, and work in the garden.

She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Joseph, for over 50 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a loyal friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Castetter; her parents; and a sister, Sonia Ziots.

Gertie is survived by her children, Steve Castetter and Sharon (Mark) Farmer; four grandchildren, Tamsyn Simon, Adam Gregory, Ethan Gregory, and April Schlobohm; six great grandchildren, Lynzy, Liberty, Sophia, Olivia, Evie, and Indy; her sister, Leonore Evertsen; her dear friends, Karen Stalnaker, Showray Norbash, Marge Johnson, Mary Marden, Kathy Padgett, Alethea Bramley, and Sharon Emerson; and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at CrossRoads Community Church, 2658 Old Bergman Rd., Harrison, AR.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to J.O.Y. Club of CrossRoads Community Church, 2658 Old Bergman Rd., Harrison, AR 72601.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Maple Esplanade for their loving care the last 12 years and also the staff at the Springs of Harrison for their compassionate care during her final months.
