George Washington Watson, age 98 of Jasper, Arkansas died Friday, August 29, 2008 at his home.
He was born December 25, 1909 at Murray, Arkansas to Flemmon and Annie (Self) Watson. He was a retired timber worker and a lifelong resident of Newton County.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ivory Bell (Williams) Watson on December 16, 2000; one son, Clell Watson; one daughter, Retha Marie Watson; four brothers, John Watson, Francis Watson, Lewis Watson, and Bobby Watson; five sisters, Fina Douthit, Mellie Carney, Ader Reynolds, Nola Edgmon; and an infant sister, Sarah Watson.
Survivors are his children, Roy L. Watson of Springdale, and Troy Watson and Bonnie Villines both of Jasper; four sisters, Nancy Sams and Leta Rylee both of Shiloh, Ida Willis of Springdale, and Mae Neal of Lowell; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; special care giver, Beverly Blevins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Monday, September 1, 2008 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral services were Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Donnie Villines and Bro. Troy Walker officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jackie Villines, Marvin Villines, Kirk Watson, Spankie Woods, John Reynolds, Jack Bradley, Pete Edgmon, and Roy Self. Honorary pallbearers were Lorrie Villines, Jaimie Villines, Allison Villines, Kayla Bradley, Morgan Bradley, Patsy Villines, Teri Villines, Penny Bradley, and Lindy Watson.
