Gene T. Rogers, age 72 of Fort Smith, AR, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at his home.
He was born November 29, 1935 in Lead Hill, AR. He was a retired employee of Ayers Furniture Factory and was a member of Grace Community Church. Gene will be remembered as being an actor with the former "Border City Gang" and as an influential musician within the Arkansas music scene, who co-founded the "Roustabouts" band.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Marion and Gary Bell "Dolly" (Flippo) Rogers; and a brother, Rhuel Rogers.
As a loving husband, dedicated father, and proud grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Betty "AnnieBelle" Rogers, of the home; a daughter, Susan "Dee" Scott, of Fort Smith; a son, Dustin "Dusty" Alan Rogers, of Van Buren; brothers, George Rogers, of Lead Hill and Eldred Rogers, of Harrison; and grandchildren, Lindsay Scott, Ashlyne Rogers and Andrew Rogers.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many, many friends.
Services was Monday, January 28, 2008 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison.
Visitation was before until services begin. Burial was in White Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jack Reeves, Mike Reeves, Max Newby, Wm. Miller Scott, Travis Moore, and Doyle Massengale.
