Gena Faye Vanscoy, age 73 of Yellville, Arkansas, passed away May 23, 2009 at her home.
She was born August 15, 1935 in Comanche County, Texas the daughter of George Pat Johnston and Olander (Echols) Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Vanscoy, and her daughter Rosie Vanscoy.
Gena was a member of the Yellville Church of Christ. She was a foster mother for many years.
Gena Faye Vanscoy is survived by her sons; Jones Michael Smith of Norfork, Arkansas, and Terry Smith of Yellville, Arkansas; her daughter, Aimee Vanscoy of Yellville, Arkansas; her brother, Mark Johnston of Georgia; her sisters, Francis Houchins of Oklahoma, Betty Ayers of Oklahoma, and Patsy Allen of Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Holder Chapel with David Lewis officiating. Visitation was Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Coffman Funeral Home. Burial followed in Western Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ron Vanscoy, Chris Vanscoy, Blake Walters, Clovis Jones, Eddie Vanscoy, and Terry Hall. Honorary pallbeaerers were Ed Vanscoy and Brandon Vanscoy.
