Obituary
Gary Joseph Long, Sr., age 57 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Little Rock, Arkansas.
The son of James Christie Long, Sr. and Eve Ethel (Laiche) Long, was born November 24, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a musician and had moved to Newton County from Metairie, Louisiana thirty years ago. His first love was his family and he was proud to have been able to raise his three children. He loved composing and playing music, cooking (he was a great cook), being on the computer and nature.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors are his wife, Susanne (Menden) Long of Jasper; his mother, Eve Long of Metairie, LA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Joseph Long, Jr. and Tasha of Perry, GA and Brent Gary Long and Katherine of Jasper; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela Marie and Gary O. Jenson of Warner Robins, GA; two brothers, James Christie Long, Jr. and Wayne Henry Long, both of Metairie, LA; ten grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services and burial were held Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Sexton Cemetery at Mt. Judea. There was no visitation.
Pallbearers included Brent Long, Gary Long,Jr., Gary Jenson, Jennifer Jenson, Brett Jenson and Brandon Jenson.
Honorary pallbearers included Jon-Michael Jenson, Victoria Long, Mallorie McKinnon, Loyce Campbell and Paul Vail.
