Obituary

Gary Anthony "Hoppy" Hopkins, age 83, of Hilltop, Arkansas departed this life on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

The son of Lavern and Alberta (Morse) Hopkins was born January 11, 1942 at Rock Island, Illinois. He had lived in Boone County most of his life and graduated from Alpena High School in 1960. He served in the Army National Guard.

Hoppy was a hard worker and managed several jobs during his adult life. He worked as a truck driver for 30 years and a brick and block mason. He also owned and operated Hoppy's Midtown Champlin station in Harrison for several years.

Hoppy loved to tell stories and visit with his friends and family. He had a great sense of humor, and he was just "Hoppy" to everyone who knew him - his nickname summed him up in one simple word.  He enjoyed listening to country music and he also loved his cats.

His one-of-a-kind personality will never be forgotten, and his family and friends will have the stories Hoppy told and the memories they created with him to treasure for generations to come.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Jason Johnson.

Hoppy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy Hopkins; son, Gary W. Hopkins and wife Cindy of Hilltop, son, Jim Hopkins and wife Michele of Bruno; daughter, Cindy Condon of Hilltop; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and many dear friends who loved him and will miss him.

Visitation will be at 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 10 (2025) at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison. Charles Mallett will officiate.  Burial will follow at Hilltop Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special "thank-you" to the nurses and staff of Hillcrest Nursing Home for the love and care given to Hoppy for the last 3 years.

Memorial donations can be made to Hilltop Cemetery Fund, C/O Shirley Kilburn, 8066 Orchard Point Rd., Harrison, AR or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
