Obituary

Garland A. Hudson, age 89 of Parthenon, AR passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.

He was born August 25, 1916 at Murray, AR a son of Rufus Elvin and Maggie L. (Henderson) Hudson.

Garland was a lifetime resident of Newton County, a veteran of WWII, Postmaster of Parthenon Post Office for 23 years, and had served as a Jasper School Board member. He spent most of his retired years hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Hudson; son, Dwain Hudson; his parents; and his brothers, Kenneth Hudson and Orlin Hudson both formerly of Richmond, CA.

Survivors are his children, Larry Hudson and friend, Trish of Jasper, Billand Leda Hudson of Harrison, Christene and Loy Breedlove of Jasper, and Maxine and Gary Nichols of mt. judea; sister, Fayrene Ramsey of Hindsville; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. Also surviving him are a host of nieces and nephews and his hunting and fishing buddies.

Services for Garland Hudson were March 21st, 2006 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Bro. Billy Paul Matlock and Bro. James Compton officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo Cemetery near Murray, AR. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Frank Hudson, Tony Hudson, Jeff Hudson, Bobby Hudson, Chris Hudson, and Robbie Moore. Honorary pallbearers were named as the staff of Newton County Nursing Home, Dr. Scott Ferguson, and Dr. Shannon Brownfield.
