Freida Fern Sims Jaro, of Harrison, AR was born October 21, 1922 at Compton, AR, a daughter of Thomas Franklin and Iva Jackson Sims. She passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Golden Living Center-Hilltop, in Harrison. She was 85 years old.
Freida was a retired school teacher, having taught many years in the Jasper School System. After moving to Springdale, she operated a restaurant and was well-known for her cooking. Freida was a kind and generous person. No visitor to her home ever left without a delicious meal and perhaps a gift. She loved her family and had many friends. Freida has made her home in Harrison since 1987. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Freida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward Jaro, and three sisters, Oma Luper, Gladys Luper, and Frona Spencer; three brothers, Clyde Sims, Allen Sims, and infant brother, Louis Sims; and a a son-in-law, Donnie Clark.
She is survived by her two daughters, Etta Kilgore Clark of Jasper and Barbara Kilgore Smith and husband, Johnny of Springdale; grandchildren, Adam Clark and wife, Maria, Stacy Clark and wife, Tammy of Jasper, and Eden Strange and husband, Darrell of Springdale; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Ernest Sims of Hillcrest Home in Harrison, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
Graveside services were Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Plumlee Cemetery with Jim Gaskill officiating. Pallbearers were Ronnie Paul, Adam Clark, Stacy Clark, Len Waters, Dennis Kilgore, Louis Sims, James Spencer, and Darrell Strange. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Golden Living-Hilltop Nursing Center. Visitation is open at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
