Florence Ann Strickland, age 96, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026 at the Springs of Mt. Vista in Harrison.

The daughter of Everett and Grace (McDougal) Herron was born at Pindall, Arkansas on March 26, 1930. She moved to Boone County in 1955 and has been a longtime member at Woodland Heights Baptist Church.

She was faithful woman devoted to the lord. She lived everyday with purpose and worked hard in all she did. She was a great cook and her delicious meals were enjoyed by all. More than anything, she loved to be with her family and friends, but especially her grandkids. She was very caring and nurturing, and was always there to care for family, friends and neighbors in need. In her younger years she loved to water ski.

Florence was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a kind hearted, sweet soul with a beautiful smile that will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Strickland; a son, Billy Joe “Toe Joe” Strickland; six brothers, Will Herron, Ernest Herron, Melbourne “Chunk” Herron, Jack Herron, Joe Herron, and Troy Herron; three sisters, Lennie Keele, Patsy Housley, and Marie Drewry.

Florence is survived by her son, David Strickland and daughter-in-law, Deborah; her daughter, Kim Smithyman and son-in-law, Mike; daughter-in-law, Ann Sanders; three grandchildren, Blake Strickland (Kim), Zach Smithyman, and Matt Smithyman; two great grandchildren; Eli Strickland and Sutton Smithyman; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many dear friends.

Private family graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery.
