Eugene Ezra Townsend, of Harrison, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center.  He was 85 years old.

Gene was born in Durant, Oklahoma to the late Walter and Iva (Mayhue) Townsend on November 18, 1937.

He was a 30-year retiree of the U.S. Navy and a veteran of the Vietnam War.  Gene retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer and he was recipient of many Navy awards and commendations, most notably the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards).

Gene was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Barbara Eleanor (Coppage) Townsend, of 55 years (they were married on November 30, 1958 in Waldorf, Maryland); his son, Clifford Eugene Townsend; and his grandson, Christopher Eugene Townsend.

Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Ann Williams, of Siloam Springs; two grandsons, Jesse Elenbarger and Chadd Williams and his wife, Kimberly; two twin great grandsons, Taylor and William Noyes; a great granddaughter, Aubrey Grace Williams; and his daughter-in-law, Ann Townsend, of Wellsville, Kansas.  He also wanted to mention, Tricia Tilley, his trusted caregiver, an extended member of his family and a great friend.

Gene totally loved and worshipped his beautiful wife and family to whom he dedicated his entire life.

A private graveside memorial service and interment with military honors will be held at the Alabam Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his lovely wife, Barbara.
