Eugene Michael Sasak, of Harrison, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Saturday, August 13, 2022.  He was 82 years old.

The son of Matthew C.  and Anita (Ruez) Sasak was born on January 18, 1940 in Gary, Indiana. He grew up in Gary with his parents and his brother.

He was 21 years old when he joined Company B of the 1st Battalion, 10th Infantry 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Carson, Colorado. There Eugene was recognized as an exceptional soldier. He earned the highest credit for the contribution he made to the service of his country. After he was honorably discharged, he met his wife, Carolyn F. Kozyra (1947-2018). They were married for 48 beautiful years.

Eugene was also an animal advocate- 11 cats and 5 dogs. He was loved by all and will be sorely missed.

Eugene is survived by two daughters, Lisa Archey and Denise Penyak; four grandchildren, Caitlin, Sara and Dean Archey and Tate Penyak.
