Ervin Curtis King, age 89 of Nail, Arkansas passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison. A lifelong resident of Newton County, he was born March 19, 1921 at Murray, Arkansas the son of the late Charlie and Miely King.
He was a farmer and had worked in construction and for the forest service.
Ervin was preceded to the Lord by his parents; a son, Curtis King; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Jack Henderson; a sister, Bertha King and a brother and sister-in-law, Buster and Bertha King.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Mary (Bauer) King of the home; a daughter, Virginia and husband, Richard Bowling of Loyalton, CA; four sons, Wayne King of Nail, Ronnie King of Fayetteville, Kenny and wife Christel King of Swain and Gerald and wife, Jeannie King of Bergman.
His grandchildren, Shelby, Lora, Kendra and Trenton King, Christy Williford, Jaime Thompson, Cara Stewart, Staci Bowling, Deborah Kelley, Brandi Diffey and David Witt. A sister, Bertie Taylor of Jasper; six great grandsons, four great granddaughters and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Rev. Bill Matlock and Rev. Bobby Young officiating. Visitation was Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the funeral home.
Burial followed in the Hickory Grove Cemetery at Nail under the directions of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.
Pallbearers were Ervin's nephews, Joe Taylor, James Taylor, Daniel Smith, Will Smith, Edd Kelton and Jerry Peeler. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Charles Klepper, Dr. Blake Chitsey and the nursing staff on the 4th floor.
