IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Erma "Lessie"
Young Morrison
October 5, 1933 – June 11, 2022
Erma Lessie Young Morrison passed into heaven on June 11, 2022, at the age of 88. Lessie was born at Cave Creek, Arkansas, on October 5, 1933, to Tressie (Carter) and Preston Eddings. She was the oldest of eight children.
Lessie married Garland Young in December 1952. Early in their marriage, they moved to Wichita, Kansas, where their first child, Beverly Young, was born. After a visit back to Arkansas, Lessie and Garland decided to flip a coin to decide whether to return to Kansas or remain in Arkansas. They stayed, making St. Joe their home. After her husband of 47 years passed away, she married Norman Morrison. She attended St. Joe Church of Christ. In 2020, Lessie moved to Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas.
Lessie was a homemaker who never let her hands stay still. She sewed, quilted, and crocheted all of her life; she could make or mend anything. She shared and sold her crafts locally and worldwide. Even during her stay at Highland Court, she continued to crochet for friends and the staff. Lessie took pride in donating hundreds of crocheted baby caps and headbands to Arkansas Children's Hospital. Lessie enjoyed visiting with friends, family, and the community. She kept her phone close and was always up to date on news and happenings. At Highland Court, Lessie discovered her passion for playing bingo.
Lessie was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Garland, her second husband, Norman, her sisters; Maxie, JoAnn, and Willa Lea; her brothers, Gene and Wayne; and daughter Beverly.
She is survived by her two children; Betty Hardy (Jim Wyatt) of Sherwood, Garland (Peggy) Young, Jr. of Mt. Hersey; three grandchildren, Tyler Young of Washington D.C., Mikayla Young of Russellville, and Jake Sisson (Erika) of Cabot; honorary daughter Leisha Horton of Marshall; two brothers, W.F. (Darlene) Eddings and Lonnie (Becky) Eddings; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 5 to 7 PM.
The funeral service will be at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Pastor Ray Henson will officiate. Pallbearers are Rod Horton, Jake Sisson, Ricky Young, Woody Methvin, Darrel Sissons, and Phillip Bowen. Honorary pallbearers include the staff at Highland Court and Dr. Brad Baltz. Burial will follow at Osborne Cemetery in St. Joe.
Lessie's family would like to thank the entire staff of Highland Court for the love and care they gave Lessie during her stay.
