Emma Lucille Awbrey, age 91 of Newton County, Arkansas, passed from this life on Saturday, May 9, 2020 in her home.

The daughter of John and Gladys (Sivage) Poyner, she was born on August 16, 1928 in Hartman, Arkansas.

Lucille's greatest joy in this life was her family, especially the little ones. They all received homemade doll clothes, stuffed animals and knitted booties when they came into this world. Each one can remember many fishing trips with grandma. Lucille was an avid lover of flowers and evidence of this can be seen all over Newton County. She loved fishing and hunting, puppies, knitting and crocheting and never turned down a good book. She looked forward each year to the Newton County fair and kept a stack of blue ribbons and Grand Champion awards on display in her room. She was most often described as sweet, but mischievous and adventurous were also part of her strong personality.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years, Vern Awbrey, a son Jerry Awbrey and one daughter, Linda Awbrey.

Lucille is survived by her son Kenneth Wayne Awbrey and daughter, Cathy Laverne Awbrey, both of the home, five grandchildren, Lucille Pettit, Jerry and Autumn Awbrey and Say and Mark Walker, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandsons, and countless friends and neighbors who will miss her presence on the mountain.

Due to the current social distancing and Lucille's personal preference a funeral will not be held for the public. Her ashes will be placed beside her beloved mother at a later date.
