Elmo Ernest Dees, eldest child of James William and Minnie Mary (Bankley) Dees, was born June 3, 1912 near Bergman, Arkansas. He passed away Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center at the age 0f 98.
Elmo was united in marriage to Norma Edwards on July 25, 1936. To this union, two children were born, Sandra Carol and Roger Duane.
Elmo was a lifetime resident of this area and a member of the Old White Oak Church. He enjoyed working on cars and tractors and growing a big garden, sharing the produce with others. He was a good neighbor and friend to all in the community.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, his infant daughter, Sandra Carol, an infant grandson;
his parents; 3 brothers, Luther, Bill and Earl Dees; 2 sisters, Emaline Hensley and Evelyn Edwards.
Elmo is survived by his son, Roger Dees and wife, Nancy of Harrison; three grandsons, Greg, Chad and Christopher Dees all of Harrison; one granddaughter, Amanda Dees of Harrison; 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Dees of Huntsville; two sisters, Etha Caton, and Betty Parmer and husband, Ray Dean all of Harrison; several nieces, nephews, and a large host of friends who will mourn his passing.
Visitation will be Friday, 6-8 PM with service on Saturday, 10:00 AM both at Coffman Funeral Home. Burial will be at White Oak Cemetery with Gaylon Phifer officiating.
Pallbearers will be Steve, Roger, Greg, Chad, Christopher and Amanda Dees. Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Hillcrest Home.
