Obituary

Effie Lea Shatwell, age 92 of Harrison, formerly of Vendor, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at Hilltop Golden Living Center, in Harrison.

The daughter of Eldridge and Anna Mae (Peoples) Davis, was born August 16, 1915 at Vendor, Arkansas. She was a lifetime resident of this area and she and her husband lived in the Red Rock Community for several years. Effie was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith, attending several area churches. She enjoyed working with flowers and also reading. She did quilting and gardening as a vocation.

Those that preceded her in death were her parents; her husband, Elver Shatwell; her brothers, Everett and Warden Davis; a sister, Ruby Brown Eric; and two daughters, Bernell and Laura.

Survivors include her children, Carl Shatwell and wife, Lillian of Valley Springs, Farrell Shatwell and wife, Belinda of Harrison, Patsy Jones and husband, Bruce of Marble Falls, Mavis Hancock and husband, David of Holden, MO, Thelma Pruitt of Jasper, and Vonna Smith of Urich, MO; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday, November 29, 2007 with service on Friday, November 30, 2007 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Burial followed at Crossroads Cemetery at Deer. Rex Middleton officiated.

Grandsons served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are the caring staff of Hilltop Golden Living Center.
