Edna Alline Daniel, of Bellefonte, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2016 at the age of 89.
Alline was born August 8, 1926, at Marcena, AR, the daughter of Silas Ruff McDaniel and Daisy (Wasson) Duck McDaniel.
Alline was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Hulen B. Daniel; brothers Verl and Joseph Webster ("Joe Bob") McDaniel; sisters Cynthia Jane Jones and Clauselle Drewry, and half-sister Helen Duck, two half-brothers Lawson and Dawson Duck.
Surviving Alline are her children Arlin (Jeanie) Daniel, Gary (Pansy) Daniel, Dianne Coombe (Johnny Flippo) all of Harrison and Joseph (Jacquie) Daniel of Angleton, TX; grandchildren Tracey Daniel of Harrison, Gary Lloyd Daniel of Bellefonte, AR; Erik Daniel of Angleton, TX; Heather Dustman of Muldrow, OK; Jennifer Singleton of Angleton, TX; Chad Darnell of Pittsburgh, PA; Stan Darnell of Beebe, AR; eleven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and two very special cousins Mary Jane Holder and Jo Wasson.
Alline grew up during the depression and always had a strong work ethic. Life was hard on a farm in Searcy County during the depression. As a child she helped her parents on the farm and when no jobs could be found in Arkansas, she went to California for a time hoping to work in the shipyards with her brother Joe Bob. After the long trip, Alline learned that she was too young to work the shipyards, so she returned home where she later graduated from Snowball High School and received her certification to teach at the age of 18. She taught in several one-room schools (Pleasant Grove, Cooper, Bohannan and others), teaching all eight grades. She later taught at Snowball, and in 2014 was recognized as one of six students who graduated from Snowball and later returned to teach there.
At the age of 20, the love of her life, Hulen Daniel returned from serving during WWII and they were married at the home of Boone and Grace McDaniel. Alline continued pursuing her education and graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) with a degree in elementary education. She taught first and second grades at Bruno and other area schools for many years, and later completed certification from the College of the Ozarks in special education, allowing her to finish her teaching career at Western Grove in 1987 working with special needs children.
Alline was always active in gardening, canning, raising their four children and loved growing flowers. She and Hulen loved to take the children fishing on Richland Creek and the Buffalo and had many stories to tell about their adventures on the river. She and Hulen loved to travel and made several trips to Idaho and the northwest, Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma.
Alline was a member of the Valley Springs Baptist Church, but she and Hulen had attended Northvale Baptist and Snowball Baptist during their later years. She loved the Lord and credited Him with bringing her through many tough times throughout her lifetime and looked forward to being reunited with loved ones in heaven.
