Edgar Lee Mays, age 79 of Deer, AR, passed away, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville, AR.

The son of Glover Calvin and Stella Esther Mays was born on November 18, 1944, in Deer, AR.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Hershel Eugene, Samuel Ray, Loyd Gerald, and Norman Mays.

Edgar was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Cowell. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and 4-wheeling. He also enjoyed working on cars, cutting wood, and sitting by the creek. He worked in the logging and sawmilling business most of his life.

Edgar is survived by his wife, Niva (Dotson) Mays of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Tony Lee and Tonya Mays of Russellville, AR, Edgar Alan and Jeannette Mays of Harrison, AR, and Travis Duane and Tamara Mays of Omaha, AR.; his sister, Ruby Rasa and her husband Edgar of Lexington, MO; his brother, Robert Mays of Lamar, AR; and his grandchildren, Austin Gene, Isaac Lee, Shianne Nichole, Seth Andrew, and Haley Elizabeth; and his great-grandchildren, Ava Rain, Emma Rose, Alivia Gracelynn, and Edmund Mays.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 2, 2024, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper with Brother David Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Cowell Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday before the service.

Pallbearers will be Seth Mays, Isaac Mays, Austin Mays, Alan Mays, Travis Mays and Mathew Heugel.

Honorary pallbearers are Robert Mays and Shianne Mays.
