Earl Proctor, age 97, a resident of Mossville, Arkansas passed from this life peacefully with his family at his side Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Prairie Grove, Arkansas. He was born at Murray, Arkansas on October 11, 1920 to Ralph and Minnie (Carlton) Proctor.
Earl served our country in the US Army from October 1, 1942 to January 11, 1946. While in Germany, he was MIA for some time before being found by his fellow troops. He earned the ranking of Squad Leader and later Staff Sargent, receiving Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge 188 and World War II Victory Medal.
After returning home from the war, he married Frances Greenhaw on October 12, 1946. They were married for 70 years until her passing in 2017. He attended and was a member of the Deer Church of Christ.
Earl and Frances purchased a farm shortly after they married. They lived and worked on the farm, always having a bountiful garden and plenty of fruits and berries to share with anyone in need.
Earl loved his horses and mules. He raised and trained them to ride, work or plow the garden and always having one gentle enough for the grandkids to ride. He always had time for the grandkids, taking them for a horse ride or just going up in the barn loft to eat Vienna sausages and scrambled egg sandwiches.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; one son, Ray; his parents, five sisters, Lena Sisk, Meta Carlton, Sylvia Lee, Ruby Newman, Lou Ella Kirk and one brother, Rufus Proctor.
He is survived by one son, Gary Proctor and wife Jewell of Lincoln, AR; one daughter, Sandra Perry and husband Stanley of Prairie Grove, AR and one daughter-in-law, Joyce Proctor of Elkins, AR; one brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Marie Proctor of Shiloh, AR; five grandchildren, Dana Proctor, Darin Proctor, Whitney Perry, Britney Faddis and Stanley Perry; five great grandchildren, Denim Proctor, Berkley Perry, Colton Faddis, Bandy Faddis and Josie Faddis (due in May); a special neighbor, Spanky Woods, that was always there when needed or just to come by for a visit and get a few laughs; caregivers, Nurse Brandi and Dr. Letisha and many nieces, nephews and family that will miss him.
Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper, AR.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Mossville Church with Kelly Woods and Anthony McCutcheon officiating. Final resting place will be in Mossville Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.
Pallbearers are Darin Proctor, Eric Proctor, Robert Janes, Hank Faddis, Greg Hames and Spanky Woods.
Honorary pallbearers are the men of the Deer Church of Christ.
