Obituary

Earl R. "Squirrel" Collins, age 70 of Jasper, Arkansas went to his heavenly home on Sunday, August 3, 2014.

He was born on July 16, 1944 in Flatwoods near Jasper to Gradon and Lois (Hamilton) Collins.

He loved to fish with his sons in Missouri lakes and hunt mushrooms with his brother, Kenneth. Earl enjoyed playing pool and was a farmer and truck driver.

He was a mason and had lived most of his life in Newton County except for 24 years when he lived in the Kansas City, Missouri area.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Jim and LD Collins; a sister Wanda Lee Collins; a nephew Jason Smith and a step-daughter Coileen Coonts.

Survivors are his wife of 29 years, Ellen (Webb) Collins of Jasper; two sons, David and wife Desiree Collins of Lee's Summit, MO and Doug Collins and fiancée Jeanna Moore of Greenwood, MO; two step-sons, Curtis and wife Joy Coonts of Dover and Craig Coonts of Amarillo, TX; three brothers, Kenneth and wife Linda Collins of Jasper, Curt and wife Norma Collins of Bergman and Danny and wife Venita Collins of Yardell; two sisters, Diane and husband Danny Smith of Jasper and Mary Jane Smith of Jasper; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Pastor Al Pflueger officiating. Burial followed in Jasper Cemetery.

Visitation was Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Tim Collins, Corey Collins, James "Bubby" Stacey,
Ricky Smith, Danny Smith, Dwayne Collins, Josh Smith and Avery Coonts.
