Earl Ray Braswell, age 83 of Jasper, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 26, 2013 in Jasper with his family by his side.

The son of James Fred and Estel (Jones) Braswell was born on February 10, 1930 in Harrison, Arkansas.

Earl performed his duty to his country by serving in the United States Army, serving in Korea and being discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Earl was a member of the Mt. Sherman Assembly of God where he served as Deacon and organist, was devoted to the Boy Scouts in California and Arkansas, worked as a Ranger at Camp Orr for the Boy Scouts, owned and operated Valley Drive-In and Exxon in Jasper, was Fire Chief for the Mt. Sherman Volunteer Fire Department, and was awarded the Distinguished Citizen Award by Jasper School.

Earl married Vivian Schmidt on August 27, 1950 and were married for 63 wonderful years. After retirement they both did extensive volunteer work and loved to travel in their RV.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Schmidt Braswell of Jasper, Arkansas; 2 sons, James Michael Braswell of Green Forest, Arkansas and Tim Braswell and wife Betsy of Harrison, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren, Nathan Braswell and wife Amanda, Clayton Braswell, Brent Braswell, Darren Braswell, Christina Long and husband Doug, Jessica Buckhout and husband Trevor and Matthew Braswell; 1 great-grandchild, Blake Braswell and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.

Services was held Monday, September 30, 2013 at Mt. Sherman Assembly of God with Reverend Raymond White officiating. Burial followed in Jasper Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper. Pallbearers included Darren Braswell, Brent Braswell, Matthew Braswell, Jimmy Vaughan, Shawn Vaughan, Greg Lackey and Dwayne Barnard. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Braswell and Clayton Braswell.
